District 2 Tournament - POOL PLAY

6/22 - South Oldham 31, Grant County 5 - The SOLL 8A team put on a hitting display, blasting 35 hits with every player recording at least one hit.  An amazing 7 home runs were hit by Cameron Masterman (3!), Seth Bacon (2!), Chase Patton, and Miles Moskwa.  South also hit six triples:  Taran Floyd (3), Seth Bacon, Jack Kilibarda, and Chase Patton.  Defensively, SOLL allowed just 9 hits by Grant.

6/23 - North Oldham 16, South Oldham 3 - SOLL's bats were silenced tonight as they managed only 9 scattered hits throughout the game. 9 other would be hits were snuffed out by the solid defensive play of North Oldham. Offensively for SOLL, Luke Reinhart and Cameron Masterman offered 2 for 2 outings, while Jack Kilibarada, Taran Floyd, Miles Moswka, Sawyer Skarski, Tanner Saloman collected the other 5 hits for South. Taran Floyd (3B), and Cameron Masterman (2B, 3B) registered the only extra base hits. South will try to rebound Tuesday evening against the St. Mathews National.

6/24 - South Oldham 20, St. Matthews National 8 - The hitting machine came alive again as South Oldham posted 31 hits with each player contributing with at least 1 hit. Hitting power came from Chase Patton (2B), Taran Floyd (4 for 4, 2-2B, 3B), Cameron Masterman (2B, 3B, HR, 6 RBI's), Seth Bacon (2B, 3B), Connor Davis (2B), Tanner Salomon (2B). Luke Reinhart turned in another perfect 3 for 3 night at the plate.  Defensively South was equally as strong posting 8 unassisted outs. Sawyer Skarski and Taran Floyd were standouts in the field tonight. South will try to earn a spot in the district tournament as they square off against Valley Sports at 8:00 pm.

6/25 - South Oldham 26, Valley Sports 13  For the second night in a row South posted a big 31 hit night! With a tournament spot on the line South would not be denied; plating all 12 batters in the first inning producing a 10 - 3 lead from which they never looked back. Once again all SOLL player posted at least 1 hit in the game. Harrison Stuart and Taran Floyd each hit big home runs in the first inning. Luke Reinhart remained perfect at the plate with a 3 for 3 night, Chase Patton went 4 for 4 including 4 RBI's, Miles Moswka went 3 for 3 including 4 RBI's, Cameron Masterman was 4 for 4 at the plate including 3 doubles.

SOLL finishes pool play 3 - 1 earning a spot in the upcoming District 2 tournament. In doing so, SOLL posted 106 hits and 80 runs scored.

6/29 - Valley Sports 13, South Oldham 11   Despite out hitting their opponent SOLL came up just 2 runs short in an epic battle against Valley Sports.  Trailing 9 8 in the 4th inning, Cameron Masterman hit a 3 run home run to put SOLL up 11 – 9.  SOLL appeared to have Valley on the ropes but could not hold onto the lead as Valley scored 4 runs in the bottom half of the 5th Other offensive standouts in the game were: Jack Kilibarda 2 – 4, 2B, 1 RBI; Chase Patton 2 – 4, 2B; Taran Floyd 3 – 3,  2-2B’s, 1 RBI; Miles Moswka 2 – 3, 1RBI; Cameron Masterman 3 – 3, 3B, HR, 6RBI’s. Defensively SOLL played well with strong outings from Chase Patton 5 PO, Taran Floyd 1 PO, 4 A; Cameron Masterman, 6 PO; Luke Reinhart playing his first game at 3B had an outstanding game contributing with 1 PO, 2 A.  Hats off to all the young all-stars who played their hearts out in this tournament.  Congratulations on making it to the semi-finals.

Offensively for SOLL during the 5 games played in the tournament: Cameron Masterman 16 – 17 .941 6 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 24 RBI’s; Taran Floyd 15 – 17 .882, 4 2B, 6 3B, 1 HR, 11 RBI’s, Luke Reinhart 12 – 15, .800, 6 RBI’s; Miles Moswka 12 – 16, .750, 1 HR, 10 RBI’s.
