Game Date: 5/3 Leagues: Machine Pitch Reds 5 A's 4: Description: This is what baseball is all about. This game had it all. The Rivalry. Best friends on opposite teams, neighbors coaching opposite teams. The setting was ripe for an exciting game between two of the best teams. We all know good pitching and defense wins games and how rare both those commodities are in this league. But both Ball Feeders J. Pearce & L.. Platt were on top of their game as well as both defenses. For the A's cat-like Pat O'Neil on the mound was all over the infield pouncing on every ball hit within 20 feet of him then tossing the ball to sure glove 1st baseman Noah Franz. They even pulled off a double play to kill a big 1st inning rally. Lucas Platt playing left field made an amazing catch of a line drive hit by Ryan Cornett to kill a big chance for the A's to get some runs. Other outstanding plays included some good throws and tags by the Reds including M. Deleon throwing out a runner trying to steal second. In the bottom of the 6th with the tying run on third base and the winning run on first, Jake Pearce smoked a line drive towards SS Adam Clark. It looked like a game winning hit 'till Adam Clark raised his glove and snagged it for the 3rd out, thus ending the game. The Reds remain undefeated and the A's go down for only the 2nd time. |
