The game had some Major League excitement in the 3rd inning with Cantrell on the mound and Jewett at the plate. An inside fastball sawed off Jewett and the barrel of Brices' bat went flying up the first base line Cantrell made the out at first and the thoughts of Sammy Sosa rang out from the fans. The White Sox buckled down with good defense to keep the game in reach. The lone run for the White sox came on a triple by John Cantrell that turned into a run on a throwing error at third.
