Description:

Nathan Frantz started his first game for the Cardinals and pitched 2 strong innings, striking out 3 whi1e holding the Orioles to 1 run. Frantz helped himself with a couple of excellent defensive plays on the mound. Keith Menser and Michael Taylor, also making their first mound appearances of the season, held the Orioles to 2 runs over the next 2 innings, striking out 4 and getting a great catch from center fielder Trey Shapanus to end a bases loaded threat. The always reliable Evan Pearce struck out the side in the 5th to end the game.

Although Cody Evers struggled with his control, he along with Jackson Cantrell limited the Cardinals to only 6 hits while striking out 7. Cantrell who pitched 3 scoreless innings scored 2 of the 3 Oriole runs, circling the bases after a drive to center in the first.

As in the first game of the season the Cardinals had a balanced offense with 7 players scoring or driving in runs. Frantz, Pearce, and Greg Manfredi each scored twice while Andrew Willinger went 2 for 3 at the plate.
