Description:

The Cardinals became the first team in the Senior Minor division to reach 10 wins with an impressive 13 to 7 win over the Mariners.  The Cardinals offense was as potent as ever, plating 13 runs in the first 3 innings.  Every Cardinal reached base at some point during the 15 hit attack.  Nathan Frantz, Michael Taylor, Evan Pearce, Andrew Willinger, and Michael Reeves all had multiple hits for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals starting pitching was as good as the offense.  Taylor, who started his second game of the year, was superb in his 3 innings of work.  He limited the Mariners to 1 run on only 1 hit, while striking out 3.  Keith Menzer relieved Taylor and struck out 3 in a very strong inning.  Christian Haynes and Greg Manfredi closed it out for the Cardinals. Manfredi, making his first appearance on the mound, impressively overcame some first time jitters to end the game.

To the Mariners credit, they staged a strong 6 run rally in the top of the 5th inning.  10 Mariners came to the plate during this impressive rally.  The rally was capped by Cash Cameron’s soft liner to right field driving in the Mariners 7th run.

Defense, which has improved all around the Senior Minor division as the season has worn on, was a big part of this game.  The Mariners and Cardinals made several outstanding plays in the field, highlighted by 3 double plays, 2 by the Mariners and 1 by the Cardinals.
