Game Date: 5/22/04 Description: The "Battle of the Sox" was quite a game of sluggers for three innings, as neither team could shake the other. The White Sox pulled ahead 2-0 after one inning. Jordan Simons pitched brilliantly in the first, and helped his own cause by getting the second out on a fly ball back to the pitcher, then pulled off the double play by throwing to first to catch a Red Sox runner off-base. The Red Sox rallied, but the White Sox had an answer for each hit. Heading into the final inning, the Red Sox lead was just 11-10. But the White Sox pitching faltered down the stretch, and the Red Sox exploded for ten runs to win going away, 21-10. |
