Description:

The White Sox used some smart base running and got great pitching from Jordan Simons in pulling off a big win over the Cardinals.  In what was the team's best overall effort of the year, the visiting Sox scored four times in the first inning and never looked back.  The Cardinals found it difficult to rally with Simons allowing just thirteen Cardinals to reach base in five innings.  Even when the Cardinals reached base, the Sox defense proved a stingy challenge, allowing just three runners to make it all the way home.  Refusing to let hits get behind them, the White Sox had plenty of great defensive plays.  Morgan Franklin made a spectacular grab at first to retire one Cardinal batter.  Kevin Montgomery threw out runner trying to steal second from his catcher spot, and later threw out a runner at home after quickly retrieving a rare wild pitch from Jordan.  Offensively, the Sox managed just four hits, but used their speed advantage to make the most of thirteen walks issued by the Cardinals' pitchers.  They got the most mileage out of their four hits as well, with Ben Austin providing the big punch with an RBI double early in the contest.
